“Experience and Specifics of Quickly Erectable Structure” Conference Session

For the first time at the conference, the session “Experience and Specifics of Quickly Erectable Structures” were allocated where issues of the use of quickly erectable structures in airports to extend a terminal capacity were discussed.

There Chief Architect of FSUE “Aeroproject” delivered her report devoted to problems of and airport in the period of public events.

She highlighted that sports competitions, culture festivals, political meetings as well as season peaks, especially in places of mass tourism make essential changes in the operation of airports. It demands extra efforts from an air habour: to change the operating mode, to extend service areas, employ additional personnel, to purchase necessary equipment.

The nature and volume of such costs directly depends of peculiarity and type of an event. What is more, the need in additional areas, purchased equipment is often dismissed quite or by the next season that also entails additional costs.

As explained by Svetlana Bezborodova, one of the possible rational alternate solutions is the application of mobile pavilions and equipment. For example, mobile inspection pavilions in Simferopol Airport enabled to serve the seasonally increased passenger traffic. But the lack of the regulatory base for such equipment complicates its application in Russian airports.
